America’s Promise Alliance is devoted to helping create the conditions for success for all young people, including the millions currently being left behind. Its work is powered by the belief that all children are capable of learning and thriving, and that every individual, institution and sector shares the responsibility to help young people succeed.
America’s Promise Alliance and MENTOR are working together through this grant to create a new, national program that focuses on the extra support needed by some Opportunity Youth. The goal is to create and test mentoring models that help Opportunity Youth prepare for and secure employment, and meet their potential. In May and June 2017, MENTOR launched the program in the Twin Cities and Seattle. The Center for Promise – America’s Promise Alliance’s research institute – will evaluate the program’s impact and, later this year, four additional cities will be selected for inclusion in the program in 2018.
