FareStart is a social entrepreneurial organization in Seattle that operates a job placement and training program benefiting homeless and disadvantaged men, women and youth. Its work is based on three beliefs: that food is central to our emotional, physical, and economic well-being; that people have incredible capacity to transform their lives when they have the right tools and support; and, that solutions that provide real value to a community have the best hope of lasting.
This grant supports the Barista Training Education Program (BTEP), hosted at FareStart’s Café at the 2100 Building in Seattle and at YouthCare’s Orion Center [Link to YouthCare]. The BTEP assists homeless youth in obtaining occupational and life skills, internships, and jobs. FareStart and YouthCare partner on designing and delivering BTEP, each bringing their particular expertise and resources – along with a shared passion for helping youth – as they work together on this project.
