Most retiring military personnel are nervous about returning to the civilian sector. But for Kofi Adjei Sarpong, the uncertainty was especially high.Originally from Ghana, Sarpong was 23 when he came to the U.S. He joined the Navy soon after arriving and ultimately served two decades.

After successfully completing the Onward to Opportunity program, Sarpong has secured a full-time job with LifeGift, a health-care provider, leveraging his background as a naval medic. “I’m still adjusting to the new life,” he said, but the skills and knowledge he gained from O2O have given him a strong start.
