This Formerly Incarcerated Young Man Is Smashing Stereotypes and Going Viral
April 8, 2024
Nicholas Tirado is multidimensional. He is a content creator, a photographer, an actor, and director but most importantly, he is an advocate for his formerly incarcerated community.
In 2023, Nicholas re-entered civilian life after 11 years in prison. Shortly after his release he began an internship with the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) in Los Angeles. ARC is an organization working to end mass incarceration in California. They empower people who are currently and formerly incarcerated by providing support, reentry services, and advocacy opportunities.
Nicholas started at the ARC office front desk before transferring to the communications department. There, he has co-created viral videos for ARC’s social media showing the inherent difficulties people face when transitioning to civilian life.
“I’m just a drop in a huge pool of stories just like mine”, Nicholas told us, and he feels driven to share his story to provide hope to others going through a similar experience.
